Solace Workshop:
Career Guidance and Awareness
Aim and Objectives:
This workshop aims to equip participants with the necessary information for making their personal career choices.
It intends to get them to start looking at the career choice process in a more holistic way by understanding how their personal make-up, interests, abilities and talents contribute to them making the correct choice.
It also aims to get participants to think about the different reasons that people choose careers and it is hoped that they can understand that in order to be completely satisfied with their chosen career, it needs to be a personal choice based on what they want not on what other people want from them.
Lastly, it aims to guide participants in this process by providing them with the basic information (self and career related) that they need before making a choice.
Who is the workshop aimed at?
Students who need to make accurate career choices.
Working individuals who find themselves unhappy or feeing stuck in their current career.
Parents who want to know how to guide their children to make the correct career choices.
The Workshop will be interactive and activity-based and will be held over 2 days.
The 2-day programme is as follows:
Day 1
– The career choice
– Reasons for choosing careers
– Why it’s important to make the right career choice
– Career choice and personality
-Career choice and abilities and talents
Day 2
-Understanding learning styles and intelligence and how it impacts careers
-Personal interests and career choice
-The work environment
-Values and the career choice
-Balancing it all out and making the career choice
All relevant materials such as questionnaires, activity sheets etc will be shared before hand in pdf format.
Please note that certificates will not be provided for this workshop.

Zarina Hassem – Solace Counselor
Zarina Hassem holds a Master’s Degree in Psychology from Wits University. Her work experiences in the psychology field are diverse as they include psychological testing, counseling, play therapy, research, lecturing and workshop facilitation. She is currently a Senior Lecturer of Psychology at the International Open University and also a Counselor at Solace.
