Client Agreement
Counselling is a process in which the counselor, or therapist, helps you understand the causes for your problems and guides you through the process of learning to make good life decisions. Counselling will help you explore the issues which are troubling you. Thus, the Counselor will not advise you about what you should or should not do, but will suggest and explore the options with you to help you decide what might be best for you in the given situation.
Whatever is discussed during counseling will remain completely confidential and no one will have access to the information you share. There are some exceptions to this- in cases where the Counselor feels there is imminent danger/harm to yourself or someone else, the Counselor might need to break confidentiality. However, this will be discussed with you prior to the counselor taking any action.
The counselor may challenge your thought pattern but it does not mean he or she is judging you. You will NOT be judged.
If the Counselor does not deal with the issue for which you are seeking counseling, or feels the issue may need to be addressed by someone else like an Imam or someone with expertise in the area, you will be asked to continue with them.
Counselling sessions will be scheduled weekly, bi-weekly, or fortnightly depending on the problem. We will discuss the frequency of sessions in the first session.
Counselling may take anywhere from 4 to 30 sessions, depending on the problem you are presenting. Please note it may take longer even if you think four or five sessions are sufficient. Note: We do not provide email counselling at present.
Each counseling session will take at least 50 minutes.
As for replying to emails by the counselor or the admin, we will get back to you within 72 hours.
If there is anything troubling you during the week and you’d like to get in touch with the Counselor, you can do so via email once in a week.
After every 4 to 6 sessions, we will review the counseling process and goals.
Please minimize all kinds of distractions during counseling. You need a quiet place, preferably with no one else around, or any one interrupting you during the sessions.
Please know that you might be required to do “homework exercises” such as reading, praying, changing behaviors, and otherwise acting in your best interest.
If you cannot attend a session, please email the Counselor at least 24 hours prior to the session time in the same email thread with the Solace admin. If you do not do so, or do not attend the session, you will be charged the full fee for that session.
